Privacy policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Cuisy is a family meal planner and tracker. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. You can reach us at support@getcuisy.app.
Data we collect
- Account: when you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name and profile picture. Sign-in is handled by Supabase Authentication.
- Household content: the dishes, ingredients, meal plans, meal logs, shopping lists, family members, calorie goals and tags you create.
- Photos: pictures of meals that you take or choose from your gallery.
How it's stored
Your household content and photos are stored in our Supabase project so they can sync between the phones of the people in your household. A copy is also cached on your device so the app works offline. Only members of your household can access your household's data.
Device permissions
- Camera: to photograph meals and scan product barcodes.
- Photos / media: to attach existing pictures to meals.
- Notifications: to show reminders, if you allow them.
Third-party services
- Supabase hosts authentication, the database and photo storage.
- Google Sign-In authenticates you.
- Google Gemini: the AI features (calorie estimates, recipe import, nutrition labels) send the relevant photo or text to Google's Gemini API using the API key you enter yourself. Google's terms and privacy policy apply to that request.
- Unsplash: if you use image search, your search terms are sent to Unsplash using the key you enter.
- Expo (EAS Update): the app checks for updates from Expo's servers, which receive basic technical details such as the app version, platform and device identifiers.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and routes emails sent to our support address, so it processes visitors' IP addresses and the emails you send us.
We don't run ads, and we don't sell your data.
Your choices
You can edit or delete your meals, dishes and photos in the app at any time. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; we don't collect a push notification token.
Deleting your account
In the app: open the Family & Settings tab, scroll to the Account section, tap Delete Account and confirm. The deletion is immediate and can't be undone.
What is deleted: your sign-in account (email, name and profile picture), your member profile, and any invitations sent to your email address. If you are the only member of your household, the household is deleted with you: its dishes, ingredients, plans, meal logs, shopping lists, shared API keys and photos. Everything stored on your device is erased too.
What stays: if other people remain in your household, the shared content stays with them and you are removed from it. Your account no longer appears there, but a name you typed into a dish, note or log may remain in that shared content until a remaining member edits it.
Without the app: if you can't open the app, email support@getcuisy.app from the address you signed up with and we'll delete your account within 30 days.
Data is kept only while your account exists. We may keep technical logs (for example from Supabase and Cloudflare) for a short period for security and reliability, after which they are deleted by those providers.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, in line with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and, where applicable, Quebec's Law 25). Write to support@getcuisy.app.
Children
Cuisy is intended for adults managing a household, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. Family members' names and calorie goals are entered by the account holder.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above.
